27 Jan, 2012 – Live @ Counter Culture – Hans Koch, diFfuSed beats, Raumagent Alpha, Yashas Shetty and edGeCut

He has been working with everyone from Cecil Taylor to Fred Frith since the eighties. As a composer he has shaped the sound of Koch-Schütz-Studer since the beginning as well as working for radio-plays and film. Since the nineties he has been working with electronics as an extension of the saxes/clarinets as well as with sampling/sequencing. As a reed-player he is always working on his very own vocabulary and sound, which makes him a very unique voice on the actual scene. As we reach the end of the 2000s, Hans Koch stands as one of the foremost proponents of European improvisation, while still churning out some of the most explosive tunes around within the revered flagship of on-edge Swiss music, the Koch-Schuetz-Studer Trio. Instead of releases on  prestigious labels like Intakt and ECM Koch has also been a pioneer in integrating electronic tools into his live performances, often using his laptop and software such as Max MSP to add unexpected twists and turns to his flights on the saxophone and the clarinet.

edGeCut | diFfuSed beats
edGeCt is a electro Acoustic project by Ish S (Sound Reasons). The music can be described as a mixture of acoustic compositions arranged with synthetic electronic sounds that build crystalline shimmering layered music and sonic spaces. These live sets have their share of acoustic instrumentation ranging from Guitar and vocals to flute and percussions. Ish has studied Western Classical guitar and then moved into Latin American and Jazz music. These Influences and those of electronic music can be heard in the edGeCut ‘live sets’

He has performed at the elecktron @ Fete De la Musiqe’ in Geneva, Art Basel and at F+F Schule fur Kunst und Medien Design in Zurich. In India he has performed in Olives, Vie, F Bar, Athena, The American center, Rain, Blue Frog, Goethe Institue and The British Council.  He has installed sound as a solo Artist and in collaboration in the Action field Kodra, Greece /  London College of Communication, London / Sarai-CSDS / Project 88, Mumbai etc

Ish Shehrawat is a Composer,Guitar Player, sound artist and Producer from Delhi. He studied Classical guitar at the Delhi school of Music and then later ventured into Jazz, Latin and electronic music. He currently produces and composes music under 3 different projects, that are edGeCut, 4th World Orchestra and diFfuSeD beats (diF). These  projects are in are in collaboration with Konrad Bayer (Munich) and Ruyuta K (Tokyo).  He has over the last decade composed for Contemparory dance, Theatre and Films, as he has worked with Artists like Raqs Media Collective, Vivan Sundaram, Zuleikha Chaudhary, Gati Dance, Yann Marussich to name a few. In 2009 he founded  ‘Sound Reasons’ a label to promote Avant Garde and Ambient experimental music. The label comprises of Artists like monoton, DJ Spooky, back to frank and other artists from all over the world.

Yashas Shetty is an artist and composer based in Bangalore, India. He is currently an artist in residence at the National Center for Biological Sciences in Bangalore and faculty at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology. He helped found the Center for Experimental Media Arts
at Srishti and has previously taught at design schools across India. His works look at the relationship between language,ecology and technology. He is also one of the founding members of the Hackteria project and the Indian Sonic Research.

Raumagent Alpha
Ron Schneider is a self taught artist exploring the correlation between sound and technology. Based in Berlin works as a music producer, sound technician, musician and engineer modifying or building custom electronic instruments. Currently most active projects include his alter
ego “Raumagent Alpha”, a dancefloor orientated techno solo project, the realtime improvisation band “Transistors Of Mercy”, the industrial ambient live program “dRONe”, “19-Zoll Stammtisch”, a regular social meeting of experimental electronic musicians and synthesizer nerds, and being part of the sound staff at “Stattbad Wedding”, an art and event space at an abandoned public swimming pool.
